I just had to upgrade my site plan. They charge you by storage. I got almost 13k images and 1400 pages. It cost me 300 per year just for the storage. its still more for the domain name.
So heres the thing, Everything was running fine until I paid the bigger fee, now its so slow, most the time it wont even load without having to refresh 3 or 4 times or reboot. Its been all 5 days and I havent been able to do anything.
Ive tried googling fixes but nothing seems to work. I got suckered at the very beginning I tried to find an optimizer which is this plugin that is supposed to streamline everything and resize images to make the site run faster. The one I picked had all kinds of animated graphs that said I had a 15% user friendly experience. Oh No!. unfortunatly they couldnt do anything unless I paid them 10 bucks a month, one year up front of course.
They ended up not doing shit and I cant get my money back, I can only cancel next years service. So now Im out another hundred and it still wont run.
WordPress only wants you to have a store front with a few images and less than 1,000 words per post… My Asia essay alone has 45,000 words and idk how many hundreds of pictures.
Its not just a bad product, this is part of a larger game, that’s all they’re going to let you have. They let you pay the money first or else they sit on you in the search results. Its extortion to make you pay or with hold traffic and any assistance is geared to online stores. No educational type sites are encouraged or helped, only consumer driven sites.
I tried moving to a competitor web page host, this one is WordPress I just chose it bc it came up first in my search results when I started this little project a year ago. You can just copy and paste info onto a new platform. It doesn’t work like that. Another wasted 6 hrs.
WP is a shitty service and I recommend never getting involved with them. Im sure there is a way to get us up running smooth again but its gonna cost another hundred bucks.
On a positive note I did find this thing that moves all your images to Pinterst. One image every 3 mins is the max or Pinterest throws you off for spamming. I did the math, if I dont add anymore pictures it will take 17 days for everything to move over there. That service was only another 60 dollars and all day installing…
